My paintings are informed by Nature, Music and Story. From them I gather visual rhythms that come to life in Abstract Expressionist Paintings that are energetic and full of color. The painting happens in two parts: First watercolor, ink and acrylics lay the foundation in expressive gesture; Second, pencil and pastels balance the act by anchoring movement and shaping form. I often stop before a shape is fully formed - leaving the piece open - so that the lines and colors can become the shapes and symbols that speak personally and directly from the artist to each individual viewer.
I am currently working on a series that involves lightly burning the surface of wood panels to bring out the grain, creating a design which in turn informs the painting....
I am also working on a couple of Murals!!
